Kogi state chairman of Council of ulama’u of Nigeria, Sheikh Salman Adam has called on Muslim umma to reflect on the numerous challenges confronting the Ummah as people today.
Adams made the called in Lokoja at this year’s Hijrah celebrations to mark the new Islamic year 1446 .
Full text of speech delivered by Sheikh Adam: “In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
His Excellency, the Executive Gov of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmad Usman Ododo. – The Hon. Speaker, Rt Hon. Alhaji Umar Aliyu Yusuf, Kogi State House of Assembly,

Brothers and Sisters in Islam, Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh.
All Praise and thanks go to Almighty ALLAH, the Creator, and the Lord of all creations. May His Peace and Blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Alayhi
Wa Sallam, members of his family, his Companions and all those who tread the path of truth till eternity, ameen.
We sincerely thank Almighty ALLAH, Who has made it possible for us to witness and usher in this 1446 Hijrah New Islamic Year. We pray that He makes us State, the peace and peaceful co-existence among the good people of the State.
The Council passionately urges the Muslims to reflect on the numerous challenges confronting us as people today. We need to ponder, retrace our steps and renew our faith in Almighty ALLAH.
While congratulating the Muslims for the celebration, Council enjoins them to remain focused, security conscious and law-abiding. It calls on its Branches in the 21 Local Government Areas, Imams, Islamic Scholars and Islamic Organisations to consistently offer special prayers for Almighty ALLAH’S Intervention in the current hardship faced by the people generally.
May we use this medium to call on Government at all levels to double their efforts in bringing down the prices of all products especially food items which today is beyond the affordability of a common man. Indeed, there is hunger in the land. Positive plans and actions are collectively required to cushion the devastating effects of this menace through effective and genuine policies that should intensively mobilise the abundant available resources to reduce the impacts.
The Council applauds and appreciates His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmad Usman Ododo, FCNA for his sustained support to Religious Organisations in the State. It prays Almighty ALLAH to guide and protect him, ameen. It passionately requests His Excellency to kindly consider and approve the First DAY of Muharram which is the beginning of every Islamic Year a Public Holiday in the State as obtained in some States such as Oyo, Kwara, Jigawa to mention but a few to the admiration and joy of the teeming Muslim Ummah who you enjoy their support.
May we sincerely thank and appreciate His Excellency, the Executive Governor, the Hon.Speaker, the Hon. Grand Kadi, the Chairman of the Occasion, the Guest Speaker, all Hon. Members of National and State Assembly, all Hon. Judges and Kadis, all Executive Council Members, all our Royal Fathers and Traditional Rulers, all Imams, All Islamic Scholars, all Islamic Organisations, the public and all school children for their unflinching support, cooperation and honouring our invitation to grace this occasion which adds glamour to the auspicious event.
We pray Almighty ALLAH to Reward you all abundantly and return you all safely to your various destinations, ameen,”
