US Envoy Delegation Visits GM.Kogi State Tourism Board

The General Manager Kogi state Hotels and Tourism Board, Hajiya Bilkisu Abdulsalam Ogueyi, Thursday in Lokoja ,received a delegation from public diplomacy section of US Embassy Abuja.

The delegations which was led by Mr Peter Burba ,an assistant cultural affairs officer with the US Embassy in Nigeria,explained that their visit was aimed at fostering cultural exchange, promoting mutual understanding, and facilitating dialogue on the rich precolonial and colonial histories of Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole.

“There is a wealth of cultural history cutting across the tribes, people, and governance in Kogi State, which has played a pivotal role in shaping the Nigeria we know today,” burba said.

Welcoming the the delegations,Hajiya Agueyi, who was overwhelmed said that Kogi state hotels and tourism Board under her leadership will collaborate with US embassy to harness the abundant historical monuments in kogi state.

Secretary of the board, Barr Inuwa, said the current board under the leader of Agueyi would development the abundant tourism centres in kogi state to attract tourists across the globe

The team visited; Lokoja Museum, where the delegation explored the historical archives of the precolonial and colonial eras, Mount Patti to study the unique landscape of Lokoja, sighted the first communication mast that transmitted to Northern Nigeria, and visited the spot where Nigeria was named by Lady Flora Shaw, among many other significant sites.
