Security Agents Asked To Apprehend Those Behinds Akoni Studio’s Robbery in Lokoja

The Chairman, Federated Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalist, Kogi State Council has described the robbery and vandalization done to Akoni Television Studio located in Lokoja as a crime against Press Freedom.

Abu Michael, Chairman of the Chapel made the disclosure following his visit to Akoni studio for an on the spot assessment of the level of theft that took place last night at the Studio.

Akoni TV studio is owned by Deborah Akoni, a member of the Federated Chapel. The thieves according to the Chief Executive Office not only vandalized the Studio, went away with two Supersonic Cameras, Light, Air Conditioners amongst several items valued at over N20m.

Speaking, the Chairman called on security agencies to fish out the pepatrators of the dastardly act, pointing out that Akoni TV has served as a veritable news and information source to the people of the State.

He lamented that the current value of items stolen and carted away when compared to the old prizes, leaves the Television Studio so much to be desired, said the security agencies must swift into action with the view to arresting the culprits.

“This crime is another action inimical to the freedom of the press we have always talked about. One wonders why Akoni TV amongst other businesses located at Green Apple Plaza, along Ganaja road.

The Chairman called on the State Government and other well meaning individuals to come to the aid of Akoni Television, urged members of the public to assist with information that would also help the security agencies in tracking the culprits.
