Staff of Kogi State Ministry of Water Resources have described the appointment and deployment of Engineer Muhammed Yahaya Danladi Farouk to the Ministry as renewed hope going by his full understanding of the challenges facing the sector.
The Management Staff, led by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Gabriel Akor made the disclosure when Engr. Farouk was officially received at the Ministry today.
The staff maintained that the way Engr Farouk has shown deep knowledge and understanding towards approaching the challenges faced the Water Resources Ministry, showed that it is a new dawn for staff and citizens of the State in service delivery.
The Management Staff said they have been gingered by the approach and words of encouragement from the Commissioner promised to give their best in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking earlier, Engr Farouk Danladi described the Ministry of Water Resources as one at the heart of Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo, said the time for situation to change in meeting the yearnings of the people in making water available is now.
He warned staffers of the Ministry against sabotage, pointing out that there will be no sacred cows in ensuring that the Ministry meet it objectives.
He promised to resuscitate all area offices of the Ministry in ensuring free flow of water to residents in and around the State capital.
He promised to tackle the issues of power surge affecting greater Lokoja water works and in water supply to the metropolis, said he will hit the ground running to ensure that work begin in earnest.
The Commissioner assured that he will strive to ensure that all ongoing water projects in the State are commissioned within the first 100 days of office of the present administration, described water as life.
While he described the provision of water as a social service, expressed optimism that with quality service delivery, the consumers will be made to pay for services if they see improvement in service delivery.
The Commissioner tasked the concerned staff of the Ministry to work out workable template for better condition of service delivery, revenue generation, pointing out that for the consumers and staff, to whom much is giving more is expected with improved productivity and expected services by the Ministry.
The Commissioner said he has no doubt in the competences of the Staff of the Ministry of Water Resources, promised that he want to make Kogites smile during his tenure in the Ministry.
The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Gabriel Akor, assured of the readiness of the Staff of the Ministry in ensuring that the Commissioner succeed in repositioning and in moving the Ministry forward.
