There was massive crowd in Lokoja on Friday as the new Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi 1V, attended his first Friday prayer since since he was enthroned on Wednesday.
The Monarch left his personal residence in Lokoja around 1.30pm amidst cheers by fans and well-wishers along side palace guards, titleholders and other well- wishers accompanied him to the mosque.
Our reporter observed that there was high security presence around the maigari’s residence, the palace and the mosque as many youths trooped to have a glimpse of the monarch.
The caretaker Chairman of Lokoja Local government,Hon Abdullahi Adamu, APC Chairman,Hon Maikudi Bature, Shatima of Lokoja, Alhaji Muhammad Mabo Kasim, Maiyaki of Lokoja, Alhaji Ali Lawal, Garguwa of Lokoja ,Barr Katu Sule ,Hakimis and other members of Lokoja traditional council were among the dignitaries that attended the Friday prayer with Kabir.
In his sermon, the chief imam of the Lokoja central mosque, Sheikh Muhammadu Aminu Sha’aban, called for cooperation for the new Maigari, adding that many people could vie for a position but only Allah gives leadership to whomsoever he wills.
Residents of Lokoja expressed gratitude to Allah for a peaceful transition in the emirate, and urged the new Maigari to be just to all.
Theanalyst reports that Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi 1V,was on Wednesday turbaned by the Lokoja Emirate Kingmakers in a colourful ceremony after his appointment by Governor Yahaya Bello as the 7th Maigari of Lokoja.
