Speaker of Kogi state House of assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu umar Yusuf has congratulated Lokoja Women Forum on the occasion of the 6th year annual Maulud in commemoration of the birth of Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw)charging Muslim ummah to live by the teaching of prophet.
Yusuf,who was representing by his Chief Press Secretary,Hon Muhammad Yabagi on Saturday, said beyond celebrating the day marking the birthday of the Holy Prophet, the period should be used for deep introspection and fervent prayers.
He urged adherents, especially women to make deliberate efforts to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad stressing that There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet (saw).
The lawmaker urged religious leaders to use the period to pray for Lokoja and to admonish their followers to take the appropriate lessons from Prophet Muhammad’s life in their commitment to the state.
Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Muhammadu Aminu Sha’aban, who in his remarks urged Muslims to extend their hand of fellowship to the needy and vulnerable in the spirit of the season while praying for the state, Lokoja local government and her leaders at all levels.
Earlier, Chairperson of the Forum, Hajiya Marka Abbas said the forum expressed their gratitude to all those that attended the event.
She congratulated HRM, the new Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi 1V, on his appointment as the new Maigari of Lokoja.
” I want express my gratitude to Governor- elect,Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Chief Imam of Lokoja and all the Islamic clerics that graced this year’s annual Maulud.”she said.
