In commemoration of his elevation to Second Class Staff of office by the Kogi state government,the Massi of Agbaja, HRH (Chief)Abubakar Isah Adoga Alugbere,on Friday conferred the traditional title of “Madaki of Agbaja” on the Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon.Aliyu Umar Yusuf.
Speaking while presenting the certificate of the title to Madaki of Agbaja,Rt Hon. Yusuf at his palace, the Royal father said the title was conferred on the speaker in recognition of his contributions towards the promotion of traditional institutions and development of Lokoja 11 Constituency in general.
Chief Alugbere said as a worthy son,the title of” “Madaki” is only bestowed to a selfless leader like the speaker.
“We are giving this title as a tittle to the Speaker,Rt. Hon. Yusuf base on merit.It is one of the major traditions of this community that any of its people that do good, we reward him with a traditional title as a mark of appreciation and encouragement.
We are promoting him with tittle of “madaki of Agbaja”, therefore it replaces late our leader and one time Speaker Kogi state House assembly, late Musa Abdullahi of blessed, he said.
Responding, while receiving the certificate, the Speaker thanked the monarch for giving him the title and promise to continue to work toward the development of the community and the state in general.
He also thanked the royal father for his foresight in rewarding his subjects that contributed to the development of the area.
The event which took place at Agbaja in Oworo ward, Lokoja local government was attended by APC chairman, Lokoja local government, Hon Maikudi Bature,top government functionaries, politicians and traditional rulers among many.
