The Kogi state Butchers Development Association has on Monday announced the suspension of some members over the alleged Castle Rustling and indulging in anti- union activities.
Addressing Newsmen at Lokoja Central Abattoir,Lokoja, Hon. Idi Ibrahim, Chairman of the Association said after a meeting adopted a resolution suspended Dodun Akuya who was allegedly rustled 3 cows belonging to Fulanis and all those associated with him.
He assured residents of the association’s readiness to dealt decisively with any erring member stressing that on no account would the Union allow beef of cattle rustled be sold in the market.
“Immediately we got the information we setup a committee which investigated whether any of our members are i involved in the alleged cattle rustling and sell of beef of rustled cows to our customers and to also ascertain whether any of our member is involved directly or otherwise in aiding the sell of such beef to innocent customers.
“At the end of committee investigation it was revealed that some members were involved and immediately we suspended them indefinitely” idi said.
The Chairman who commended Governor Bello, however appealed to the government to complete the modern slaughters lab in Lokoja.
He assured residents of the union’s determination to ensure safety, especially with regard to healthy beef in the market.
While congratulating the governor -elect, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo,the chairman appealed to him to reciprocate the massive votes by members of the union during the recently concluded gubernatorial election.
The meeting which was held at Felele was attended by Hon Idi Ibrahim,the chief security of the union, Safiyanu Muhammed, Alhaji Nura Chika , Abdullahi Uba Manager and Abdulrahman Buhari.
