The former PDP leader and other critical stakeholders of the party in ward D, Lokoja local government, Alhaji Ibrahim Baba Haruna and his teaming followers have defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lokoja local government area.
They were warmly received by the APC, Lokoja local government Chairman,Hon. Maikudi Bature at the party’s secretariat on Wednesday.
Bature, in his welcome address, emphasised that the APC provides equal opportunities for both old and new members.
He encouraged opposition politicians to join the party to contribute their quota to governor Yahaya Bello administration’s efforts at enhancing the development, well-being of the people of Kogi State.
The chairman also announced that more PDP members from the area would be joining the APC, to show appreciation for the construction of Sadauna junction- unguwan Kura road which is under construction. .
Bature Furthermore, urged the people not only to unite for political participation but also to support the APC flagbearer, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo who he said would consolidate on the laudable achievements of governor Yahaya Bello.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alhaji Baba who hold the traditional title of Sarkin Makada of Lokoja, highlighted the governor’s exceptional infrastructure development and exemplary leadership, inclusiveness, fairness, justice and equity as the reasons for their defection to the APC.
Baba commended the governor for the ongoing reconstruction of Sadauna junction-unguwan Kura road, which he viewed as a clear testament to Governor Bello’s belief in a unified Kogi State, demonstrating his commitment to equity, justice, and fairness.
The former PDP chieftain assured the the party Chairman that he and his supporters would work towards the success of the APC flagbearer, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
Earlier, Secretary of APC Lokoja local government ,Hon Emmanuel Lonis assured the defectors of the party’s stands for justice equity and fairness.
At hand to received the new entrants are supervisory council of education, Hon. Hamisu Dan Musa, local government APC woman leader, Hajiya Gana, APC and stakeholders among others.
