As the race for the November 11, 2023 Governorship election hots up, Hundreds of members of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from ward D in Lokoja Local Government area,on Saturday defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors, including, Alhaji Umma Babadoko, former Local Govt Financial Secretary,
Zakari Yaro (Akweka) PDP ward D legal adviser,Jibrin Datti,Murtala Nasidi Former word ‘ D ‘ PDP youth leader and umar Musa Tanko.
Others are ;Muhammed Awwal,Lawal Barau,Tanimu Uba and Gambo Mohammed
Receiving the new members, APC chairman,Hon. Maikudi Bature said it’s a thing of pleasure to welcome the defectors to the LKG APC.
“I am very happy not because I am welcoming you back into the party but because there is no society that is good without good leaders and people of good intentions.
“This is the time for Kogi state and our area in particular to have the right leadership. The APC flagbearer, Alhaji Usman Ododo, has an eye for talent and that is what we need in Kogi state.”
“In welcoming you I must say you have made the right decision by joining the wining train and Progressives.”
Earlier in his remark, leader of the team, Alhaji Umma Babadoko, described the defection as a step in the right direction.
He said: “We have realised it is time to take the right decision and join the winning team.
Babadoko who described his returned to his party as an efforts to join hands with “our leaders in seeing that APC flagbearer Ododo emerge victorious come November 11 Governorship election”
He appealed to the leadership of the party to operate an all inclusive government at the end of the election.
In his remarks, APC Lokoja local government vice Chairman, Hon.Emmanuel Lonis assured the defectors of equity, fairness and justice in the party
“Thank you for finding it necessary to return to the progressive family and be part of the process of developing kogi state. You have taken the right decision because this is your party and the right party that has contributed in no small measure to the development of the state,” he said.
