Kogi state Woman Leader Of Tinubu Action Plan and Former Special Adviser, Hon. Halima Usman Kauna,on Sunday declared her intention to contest in the forthcoming Local Government Chairmanship elections for the position of the local government Chairman.
Kauna who made the declaration at her Newlyout residence in Lokoja, informed APC supporters that”
“it’s an honour for me to be here and want to contest for the highest position in our beloved local government”
She said her aspiration is a result of the call to answer the yearnings of the people, stressing that she’s not out to withdraw from the race for any aspirant .
Kauna, who contesting the PDP local government primary election in 2011 but persuaded to withdrew for late Hon. Aliyu Baba Usman, expressed confidence in Governor Yahaya Bello’s gender sensitive policy said” our Governor is a gender sensitive,so I am in the race to win.”
She appealed to the people of the area especially women on the need to support her aspirations, which she said is meant to serve the good people of Lokoja Local Government area.
She says if given the mandate she will like to see the strengthening of women and youths through her empowerment program.
In her remarks, chairman of the occasion, Hajiya Khadijath Abubakar Ola, described Kauna as a principled, hardworking and honest politician .
She assured the aspirant of her unalloyed support and appealed to women to rally round Kauna towards her selfless efforts to bring development to the doorsteps of Lokoja local government people.
In his goodwill message, former NULGE Chairman,Hon. Alfa Muhammed,commended Kauna for her resilient and contributions towards the development of her community and promised to mobilize support for the aspirant.
The declaration ceremony was attended by representatives across Lokoja two constituency and beyond.
