The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has inaugurated the 8th Kogi State House of Assembly, with Honourable Yusuf Umar Aliyu, as Speaker and Honourable Enema Paul(Dekina), as Deputy Speaker.
In his special message to the newly sworn in legislative chamber on Tuesday,which was read by the Clerk of the Assembly, Governor Bello commended the spirit of commitment and oneness, which produced the new leadership despite the fact that two parties were represented in the hallowed chambers.
He urged the lawmakers to do all necessary, within the ambit of the law, to ensure good governance, productivity and equity in all deliberations.
Governor Bello noted that the need to enhance fiscal status of the state had become imperative, advising them to collaborate in repositioning the Internally Generated Revenue Drive to put the finances of the state out of the woods.
He added that the rare opportunity that the people had bestowed on his administration must be a major driving force for better economic, social and political advancement for the entire state.
Rt. Honourable speaker, Umar Yusuf however, expressed gratitude for the opportunity given him to serve, assuring the state that robust deliberations hinged on the needs of the people would be the hallmark of the 8th Assembly.
