Manchester United set to axe players ahead of new season

By Nasidi Shatima

Report from England suggest that Premier League giants Manchester United will most likely allow up to 17 to exit the club at the end of the season.

According to Daily Mail, the need for the axe of players is imperative with the focus to financially back Erik Ten Hag for his Old Trafford rebuild.

Thursday’s night heavy defeat to Sevilla with the exit from Europa league has further fuelled the urgency of the enforced exodus.

Offers will be considered for high-profile internationals Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Scott McTominay, Fred, Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial, and right-back Aaron wan-Bissaka who cost £50million from Crystal Palace.

While there is likely not going to be an increased offer to David de Gea who is out of contract in the summer,Brandon Williams and Anthony Elanga, Eric Bailly or Alex Telles are also on the radar of leaving the club.

Also, no discussions have been taken on extending a stay for Dutch forward Wout Weghorst with no decision made on his fellow loanee Marcel Sabitzer.

Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe are out of contract and will leave while goalkeeper Dean Henderson, an academy graduate currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, could also leave to represent pure profit for the club

United are reportedly anxious to get money in so ten Hag can spend on bringing in top players into the team, especially centre-forward a priority for the manager.
