Kogi guber: Why I stayed away from PDP primaries, Says Haruna SAN

A leading PDP governorship Aspirants and former Kogi state Commissioner for justice, Barrister Abdullahi Haruna(SAN) has explained why he stayed away from the venue of People’s Democratic Party, PDP Guber Primary election which took place in Lokoja on Sunday.

Speaking with THEANALYSTNG in Lokoja on Monday,the former justice commissioner said he stayed away from the process because the leadership of the party anointed a preferred candidate hours before the commencement of the primary and as a partyman we have no alternative that to abide by the decision of our Leader .

He maintained further that he is into the race well prepared with the conviction that the party leadership would ensure that the best candidate emerged as the party flagbearer, through a free and fair process, Which according to him would’ve instill confidence in electorate and give the party the needed massive support across the state at the November 2023 election.

“I had prepared for the primary election for months campaigning tirelessly, meeting with constituents, and outlining my blue print for the future of Kogi State, I had been confident that the party was focused on taking decisions that would ensure it would win the November election and make a difference in the lives of the people of Kogi State” he said

Recall that few hours before the commencement of the election,Haruna made the shocking statement,which put made of his teaming supporters in a state of confusion.

He thanked his supporters accross the state for their perseverance and urged them to remain committed to the painful decision of the PDP and it Leadeship.

He also assured that he would continue to advocate issues that would be crucial to the good governance of Kogi State and end the hardship being faced by the ordinary people.

The Frontline aspirant noted that; “Politics was not always about winning or losing. “Sometimes, it is about making difficult decisions and looking into the future for more rewarding options that will better serve the interest of the ordinary people.”
