Bruno Fernandes is expected to be fit for Thursday’s game against Tottenham after travelling to London with his Manchester United team-mates.
United’s vice-captain Fernandes, who picked up a knock during the FA Cup semi-final win against Brighton last Sunday, was a doubt for the huge Premier League clash. Yet it appears the Portugal international has proved his fitness to manager Erik ten Hag.
Fernandes left Wembley wearing a protective boot after Sunday’s game. Ten Hag was asked about Fernandes’ fitness during a press conference on Wednesday. He replied: “There are some players who are unavailable, [such as] Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

“We have to see how Bruno Fernandes is, because we don’t know yet. It’s a question mark. But I think, for the rest, we are quite okay.”
When asked about Fernandes’ protective boot, Ten Hag replied: “It’s more often that with players, we protect them. It’s prevention, but it has to settle down. We have seen he played a full game and it happened in the first-half. But tomorrow is a quick turnaround, so we have to see what is possible.”
Fernandes has missed just four Premier League games since the start of the 2020/21 campaign, such is his importance to United. The former Sporting Lisbon playmaker has played a vital role in their revival under Ten Hag this season and often wears the armband.
