The Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Muhammadu Aminu Sha’aban, Sheikh Abubakar Adamu, Malam Abu Bilal, members of Lokoja traditional council,led by the Waziri of Lokoja, Alhaji Abdulrahman Idi
among other Muslim faithful gathered at the lokoja Central Mosque, Kogi state,on Friday for a special prayer for the peaceful and successful conduct of saturday 25th February 25 and March 2023 elections.
The prayer session was organised by Greater Lokoja Agitators Forum,Speaking at the event, leader of the forum, Alhaji Alfa Gimba Yabagi, said the avenue was to call on all leaders at the local, state and national government levels to prevail on their followers that there must be peace.
Yabagi,who disclosed that the prayers is part of one week activities organised by the forum to sensitised the community on the need to conduct themselves peaceful during and after the elections, called on police to ensure there is peace before during and after the election in Lokoja and the state in general.
Yabagi Commended Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi,Lokoja traditional title holders,members of Lokoja traditional council and Ulama’u for their commitment to peace on their agitation for the new Maigari of Lokoja.
While commending
Governor Yahaya Bello, on security, Yabagi appealed to the Governor and the authority concern to passionately approve the appointment of the new Maigari of Lokoja,as forwarded by Lokoja king makers without Futher delay.
Kogi West Senatorial candidate under the platform of New Nigeria people’s party, NNPP, Hon. Abubakar Ibuku Muhammed Bukky, said coming to the Lokoja Central Mosque was to seriously pray for the protection of all Lokoja,Kogi West and the state from violence and crime during and after the election.
Bukky, however, urged all Muslims and Nigerians to avoid any involvement that could bring trouble and cause violence.
The chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Sha’aban noted that the prayer is for a peaceful co-existence during and after the election.
“I want to implore all parents to be mindful of where their youths and children go to and ensure that they don’t become thugs for political violence” Shaba said.
He enjoined youths to be mindful of what they do,as leaders of tomorrow, ‘you’re young today, and tomorrow will tell their today” he concluded.
The prayer session was attended by traditional title holders,Hakimis, Members of Kogi state Leagues of Imams and politicians across party affiliations among others.
