The 2022 Gegu Beki day celebrations has come and gone, with the Sons and daughters from Gegu Beki Kingdom,in Kogi Local Government, gathered in her town hall to celebrate the carnival – like ceremony.
The 2022 program was organized by Gegu Beki Development Association GEBDA, to show case the cultural heritage of Gegu Beki people.
This year’s celebration was unique with different programs ranging from lectures with the themes:
Highlights of the occasion includes, lecture with the Theme:”Population Census, the Importance To The Society” was delivered by Dr Abubakar Musa ( a Senior lecturer with COE, Zuba.
While Dr Abdulmumin Muhammed,of BUK, Kano, delivered the second lecture:” Culture, tradition as a panacea to peaceful coexistence.”
Other programs showcased are the entrepreneurial acumen of the people of Gegu Beki,where Farm produce were displayed, the leather and shoe makers, vulcanizers, Artisans, POS dealers, Oil Mogul, food sellers were on hand to display their trade and skills as all of them displayed how they started and the importance for self reliance.
The community appraised the year 2022 performance and gave it excellent performance because of dividends of democracy derived in one single year .
The Ohinoyi of Gegu Beki Kingdom Alh Alhassan ABBA Muhammed appreciated Gov. Yahaya Bello for the transformation of Gegu Beki in particular and Kogi State at large in terms of physical and human development. He prayed that Allah will bless him in this world and beyond.
The occasion was chaired by Dr Nuhu Idris with dignitaries from across board from Gegu Beki gracing the occasion and tagged it a huge success.
Cultural troops across board from different tribes of Egbira, Bassa, Gbaji, Igala, Hausa , Ganagana etc also displayed marvelously, Kogi State art and culture performance was highly incredible.
Outstanding performances award was presented to Engr Bashir Gegu and Alh Muhammed Abdulrahman MD Bakka oil for their support for the upliftment of men of Gegu Beki generally.
Engr Bashir Gegu who praise Gov. Yahaya Bello as the best ever Governor who have touched the lives of majority and transformation of Kogi State to a world class, said no distraction from any quarter can stop Gov. Bello, described his Leadership style if simplicity, honesty, faithfulness, fearlessness and touching of lives positively as his trademark.
Engr Bashir Gegu admonished for peaceful coexistence as the only way continuous dividends of democracy can get to the people of Gegu Beki.
The chairman of GEBDA Dr Abubakar Musa also thanked all other EXCO members said it was a massive support, showered encomiums on Dr Yunusa Labaran who is the patron for always been there for the community.
The Executive chairman Of Kogi LGA Hon. Dauda Aliyu (Mr Capacity) , Hon Bala Ette the SSA on special duties to GYB , Hon Idowu Suleiman SSA on data collection and population census, Hon Usman Yakubu Badakwoshi SSA on Local Govt and Chieftaincy affairs, Hon Ohimokos, the SSA on internally generated revenue, the APC candidates for House of Reps Lokoja Koto FC, Hon Danladi Suleiman Aguye, APC candidate for House of Assembly for Kogi LGA State Constituency, Hon Idris Aliyu Markudi, Hon Team best who is the APC candidate for lokoja 1 House of Assembly and other top Government functionaries graced the occasion .
Hon Sunday Karimi APC senatorial candidate for Kogi west donated N.5m for the support to the community .
Engr. Bashir paid tuition fees for 10 students, promised to provide 100 chairs and tables to community Secondary School Gegu Beki and donates N.5m for the program.
