A Non Governmental Organisation, Sulaiman Baba Ali Foundation (SBA), on Saturday distributed relief materials to victims of 2022 flood disaster in Idah and Ibaji local governments areas of Kogi State to ameliorate their sufferings.
The items donated includes; bags of rice, Beans , textile materials, Noodles and cooking oil amongst many.
Speaking at the occasion of distribution of the items in Ibaji and Idah LG Areas, the Chairman of the foundation, Alhaji Sulaiman Baba Ali, who was represented by Alhaji Yahaya Adama, said foundation approved the release of the relief materials init efforts to address the needs of the citizens in difficult times.
Adama said they were in Idah and Ibaji in continuation of their visit to the flood effected areas across the state to deliver relief materials to victims of flood adding that the foundation ,a non political organisation is formed to cater for the less privileged in the society irrespective of political, religious or tribe affiliations.
He advised that there was need for government at all levels to take proactive measures that would lead to substantial reduction of flood disaster risk and loss of lives and property.
He urged leaders of the beneficiaries communities to ensure effective and transparent distribution of the relief materials.
In their remarks, Alhaji Yahaya Odoma and Mr. Akoh Emmanuel from Ibaji and Idah Local Government Areas respectively, commended the founder of the foundation, Alhaji Sulaiman Baba Ali and the delegation for the support and assured them that the beneficiaries would make judicious use of the items.
Responding on behalf of beneficiaries, Mr James Adejo, thanked the foundation for their support and promised that the relief materials would be distributed to the direct victims and urged other well meaning individuals and organisations to emulate SBA
The beneficiaries communities includes:Iyano, Iyaah, Idah Oyindega, Onodaga amongst many.
