Kogi State Education Board Opens Capital Projects Contract Bids For 2021

The Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB)on Wednesday opened the bid for the award of contracts for construction of new school buildings across the state, tagged:”UBEC/SUBEB 2021; CAPITAL PROJECT BID-OPENING”

Speaking during the opening of the bid in Lokoja, the state capital, Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Comrade Suleiman Ndalayi , said the process was in line with the relevant laws to ensure due process and transparency in the award of contracts.

,The chairman who applauded Governor Yahaya Bello in his determinations to provide affordable education to citizenry , promised to provide a level playing field for all the bidders to participate and ensure that due process was strictly adhered to.

He said the state government has paid its counterpart fund for 2021 to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) added that Kogi state government under Governor Bello is alway in the forefront in payment of counterpart funding.

“ Governor Yahaya Bello’s quest for education sees to the prompt payment of counterpart funding, this singular gestures made SUBEB to use the funds the state accessed from UBEC to implement projects in order to actualize the objectives of basic education in the state,” he said.

Ndalayi said the board will deal with contractors who have the habit of collecting money and not doing the job.

He maintained further that the Board would ensure that the projects were executed in line with the approval given.

Speaking earlier,Kogi state Commissioner for education, Honourable Wemi Jones commended Governor Yahaya Bello, noting that the “process is aimed at Governor Bello’s determinations in promoting education to the highest pedestal more functional.

Jones ,who commended Comrade Suleiman Ndalayi,urged him to continue with his good work.

The UBEC Coordinator for Kogi State, Mr. Noah Adegbe who said he had been monitoring the process and could attest that due process and diligence was observed cautioned successful contractors against poor quality job or delay in the contract execution.

In attendance are; Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Hon. Abubakar Bashir-Gegu, top officials of Kogi SUBEB and contractors.
