Ahead of the gubernatorial election in Kogi State in 2023,the Kogi West Senatorial candidate on the platform of the NNPP, Muhammed Abubakar Ibuku Bukky, has admonished those clamouring for governorship for Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency should have a rethink, say that the time is not yet ripe for such agitation.
Mohammed in a chat with newsmen in Lokoja on Thursday ,stated that it is better to focus on the senatorial seat for now, noting that noting when it is time to agitate for governorship position,the opportunity would have been abounds.
According to him, in the recent time, we are all aware that Lokoja Koto have been left behind politically and I am aware that some people are agitating or some people are preferring to seek such position,but I think we should get our priority right .
He said that the people be focus on the senatorial seat which in hand and within the the reach, noting that they should not be distracted by agitation for governor.
“Agreed we want governorship ticket, agreed we want to be governor,but is it the right time to have it .There are factors that determine what you want yo get .As far as i am concerned I don not think those factors favour us us now”, he said
The NNPP senatorial flag bearer noted that as it were Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency is not yet fitted into the agitation for gubernatorial seat, adding that all factors does not favour the zone for now and when the time cones to cross the bridge,but sooner than later Lokoja/Kogi will get get and shall cross the bridge.
“what the body language of the people are saying now is senate from Lokoja/Koto axis .For me I am not saying we do not deserve it.Iam not saying do not want it ,but again is it right time ?Does the factor that determine whether we can get governorship ticket ticket actually in our favour
“To me let us look around and see what is possible and seek for it and probably from other side can deem it necessary to consider Lokoja/Koto . As far as I am concerned this group of privileges people from.Lokoja/Koto should think twice before promoting this kind of agenda,” he posited.
He therefore urged the people of Loloja/Koto not to allowed themselves to be used by these privileged few , noting that if this a ploy to distract him from what getting what he actually needed .
