The former Special Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on SMEs, Hon. Danladi Sulaiman Aguye, has been declared winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Lokoja / Kogi federal constituency
The Returning officer of the primary election, Hon. Muhammed Abdulrashid made the declaration in Lokoja on Friday.
Muhammed announced that Hon Danladi Sulaiman Aguye scored 70 votes to defeat two other aspirants. He said Hon. Idris Ndako came second with Twenty Four votes, while Hon. Saidu Akawu Salihu placed third with Eight votes, while a total of Three votes were void
“A total number of 105 delegates cast their votes, three vote was invalid. Hon Danladi Sulaiman Aguye having scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared winner of the primary election,” Muhammed declared.
Aguye, in his remarks, thanked the delegates and indeed the people of Lokoja/ kogi federal Constituency for the confidence reposed in him.
He congratulated other aspirants for their sportsmanship and appealed to them to join hands with him to deliver the APC in 2023.
The APC candidate who was overwhelmed, expressed his appreciation to the party leader in the state,Governor Yahaya Bello and all the APC leadership, stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.
He assured them of his determination to delivered the dividends of Democracy to the doorsteps of the people of Lokoja/ Kogi federal constituency.
In an interview with journalists after the exercise, Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engineer Abubakar Bashir Gegu, commended the delegates for conducting themselves peacefully.
According to him,the election was conducted in a transperant manner, ” it was free, fair, transparent and peaceful, I want to call on other contestants to Join hand with the winner for the interest of the party” he said.
On the chances of APC in the forthcoming elections, the Commissioner said they are optimistic that Kogites would cast their votes for the APC due to the laudable and People’s orientated projects executed by Gov. Yahaya Bello.
The election was witnessed by detachment of securities, Journalists and Independent National Electoral Commission staff,led by Abdulwahab Jamiu muhammed,a Director at the Commission.
Others at the venue includes; Lokoja LGA APC Chairman, Hon Bature, Hon Danasabe Muhammed Danasabe, hon Bashir Gegu and Hon Sulaiman Babadoko amongst others.
