Ahead of the May 12th,2023 primary elections of the Peoples Democratic Party, an aspirant to Lokoja / Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Danladi Ibrahim Baba budon, has called on the state party, to ensure that all aspirants are given a level-playing ground at the elections.
Baba Budon made the called during a formal declaration of his intentions to PDP Lokoja Local Goverment, statutory delegates at the Party’s secretriat in Lokoja on Thursday.
While urging the party to remain neutral in coordinating the primaries, the former Lawmaker said, “My only advice for the party is for the leadership to provide a level playing ground for all aspirants bearing in mind those who will win the general election.”
The Former Lawmaker further stated that he’s at the PDP Lokoja local govt Secretariat to formally informed the delegates of his intention to contest for the 2023 Lokoja / Kogi Federal Constituency.
He said, “I’m also here to inform you delegates formally that i want to be the flag bearer of PDP for Lokoja / Kogi federal Constituency and further remain you that am still in the race. I had been screened and cleared to contest for Lokoja / Kogi federal constituency” he said.
Abdulrahman Yusuf wali,Lokoja Local Goverment Youth leaders forum chairman, who spoke on behalf of the forum said members of the forum have resolved and Endorsed baba Budon as their consensus candidate.
He opined that delegates in Lokoja / Kogi Federal Constituency will vote for Hon. Danladi Baba Budon,come May 12 2023.
In his own remarks, Comrade Sulaiman Jibril from Koton-Karfe, who doubled as Coordinator Baba Budon Campaign group in Kogi local Government, appealed to Lokoja delegates to rally round baba Budon.
” This is a rescue project, I was the youth coordinator for Hon. Shaba Ibrahim in 2019 , we worked together throughout the legal battlefield, today majority of us who stood by him inare abandoned, it’s time for Lokoja delegates to realize that it’s Lokoja Local Goverment turn to represent Lokoja/ Kogi federal constituency, based on the agreement signed by Hon. Shaba Ibrahim” he said.
Comrade Sulaiman explained that Kogi local government have 113 statutory delegates stressing that over 50% would cast their votes for Hon. Danladi Baba Budon come May 12, 2023.
He admonished the delegates to be warring of leaders who sat at the comfort of their homes and imposed an unpopular candidate against the wishes of party and electorates.
Earlier, Chairman of the party in the area who was represented by the Secretary,Hon. Ada Ahmadu, in his opening remarks described Hon. Danladi Ibrahim Baba Budon as a stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party in the state and in Lokoja/ Kogi Federal Constituency who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the party.
He assured the aspirant that PDP in the state will provide a level playing ground for all aspirants.
Highlights of the occasion was solidarity messages and assurances by the delegates to support baba Budon’s aspirations by casting their votes for him at the party primary elections schedule for 12th of May 2023.
