Suleiman Hassan is a Nigerian, an Indigene of Kogi state, a 35years old final year student of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria who involved in a car accident along Abuja-Lokoja high way on the 18th June, 2013 on his way back to school.
Suleiman was 28years old when he had the accident and sustained a spinal cord injury and was rushed to Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Lokoja by the FRSC.
Few days later he was referred to ABUTH and later UDUTH after an MRI and a cancelled surgery where he stayed for 2years.
Suleiman later requested for transfer back to FMCL for lack of social support. The Neurosurgeon in FMCL has categorically stated that he cannot carry out the operation.
History, examination and investigations assured that something can be done to bring him back on his feet but the sum of 10Milion naira is required for the surgery at Abuja based hospital. Suleiman can not move any part of his body except with the help of another.
The family couldn’t afford to sum involved and had to seek for the help of the general public. He was oppottune to meet with Kogi state governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello who promised to take charge of the treatment abroad no matter the cost but to no avail.
All efforts to get to the government to fulfit the promise made to support Suleiman did not yield any positive result since 2016.
Suleiman was later discharged from Federal Medical Center Lokoja because he could no longer fund his stay bills at the hospital and help was coming after the governor’s pledge.
Suleiman is presently left stranded at home as he has been on bedridden for over 7years at his felele residence, Lokoja.
Feeding and money for medication has become problem for him as he narrated his plight in tears.
Suleiman is still calling on the government and individuals to come to his aid to his life back and possibly go back to finish his programme in school.
