A gentle political strategist educated, and philanthropist exist in the ancient city of Lokoja ,the Kogi state Capital. A humble and young enterprise gentle man. It isn’t self-advertising or self-conscious humility, it’s a natural humility. He is Hon. Muhammed Abubakar Ibukun a.k.a Bukky, Secretary General, Association Of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Abuja.
His moral and philanthropic abilities extend the walls of his hometown Lokoja, going across all holes and crannies of the state. To some individuals, Hon.Bukky as he’s popularly called by his admirers,he is a crony while to others prayers is to have his like in their area.
You can ascertain from his philanthropic gesture as General Secretary, Association Of Local Governments Of Nigeria (ALGON), which was founded on November 29, 1999 where his efforts led to Provision of Scholarship to indigents students, Development of education sector, payment of Medical and surgery bills across his constituents and beyond. .
From miles, bells of his political and philanthropic engagements rang loudly. I have watch of recent, it is apparent to sight his grassroots political engagement as his impacts are felt in many ramifications. He has for a long time been putting his best effort in trying to change the politics and philanthropic engagements in Lokoja Local Goverment and beyond, and by that doing, he has touched many lives positively across board.
In an interview with Newsmen recently,Hon Bukky spoke on wide range of issues among which are; youth political participation and mentoring, economic opportunities and education endowment in Lokoja / Kogi Federal Constituency. But the important of it all is his quest to prioritize youth inclusion in governance, Human empowerment,and provision of socour to less privileged.
He expressed his commitment to improving health and productivity of women and girls child in Lokoja and environs, by empowering them with skills which will enable them create and effect social change in all facets of life
He noted that he have the understanding that education is the most powerful tool if you really want to change the world.
His words and action are always towards investment in education. According to him” “education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another” and “purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.” he noted
He didn’t only talk on this; it is evident on how he has been assisting students with funds as scholarships and payment of tuition feesand payment of registration fees for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination a(UTME) for over 200 students,he told journalist that he’s ready to expand on that through the yet to be inaugurated ABUBAKAR IBUKUN FOUNDATION.
That gesture alone kept many mesmerize as they listen to him speak as a visionary and intelligent politician cum administrator.
More so, on his political expedition in enhancing youth participation at all levels of political landscape withing Lokoja Local Goverment and,the state at large, as he kept saying consistently, that not just peripheral participation, but he want an our apparent and functional engagement within the political space.
Comrade Muhammed Isah Ibrahim, while speaking with this reporter on the characters of Hon. Bukky,has this to say: “This gentle man’s action is making youths leaders of today not tomorrow, bringing into practical all needed development through his empowerment programs.”My daughter is among the beneficiary of Hon. Muhammed Abubakar Ibukun’s scholarship, this gentleman have touches the lives of our people irrespective of tribe or religion inclinations. May Allah continue to guide and protect him ” he prayed.
“With young, enterprise gentleman like Hon. Muhammed Abubakar Ibukun Bukky as people’s representative, said Abraham, we will be dynamic towards people development. To him youths are the major human resources and assets of development within Lokoja / Kogi Federal constituency. As he always says, holding political office is not all about pride,greed self ego and giving money but mentoring youths women and girls- child to become strong men/women that can raise other men” said Comrade Olayinka Abraham.
President ,Kogi Arewa Women In Action,Hajiya Nafisat Musa While disposing money to beneficiaries on Monday, commended Hon. muhammed Abubakar Ibukun (Bukky) for supporting the Association.
“On behalf of the entire Members of Kogi Arewa Women in Action, Lokoja chapter,we want to thank Hon. Bukky whose support for Girl child education,human empowerment and support for women groups is unparalleled” Musa said.
She explained that,since the formation of the group,Bukky expended over ₦1.5million through philanthropic gesture,adding that over 1000 women benefited from Hon. Ibukun’s Philanthropist programs.
Musa appealed to other well meaning individuals to emulate Bukky, whom she described as a Messiah.
