2023 Polls: Kaduna Govt Asks Aspiring Appointees, Public Servants To Resign

The Kaduna State government has directed political appointees and public servants aspiring for elective offices in 2023 general election to resign thier positions on or before March 31, 2022.

A circular addressed to the heads of tertiary institutions, political appointees and top government officials issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Balarabe Lawal Abbas, reminded them of the provision of the new Electoral Act 2022 assented by President Muhammadu Buhari and as released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The circular noted that the Act categorically provides that political appointees and public servants aspiring for elective offices are expected to resign 30 days before the primary election of the specific post they are aspiring for.

The circular reads: “In compliance with the provision, all political appointees, and other public servants serving in the state government aspiring for political offices should submit their letters of resignation to the Secretary to the State Government on or before 31st, March 2022.
