former Lagos state governor and Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday said he is hale, adding that only God can take his life.
Tinubu made the remarks during a welcome-back and prayer event hosted by Lagos state government at the State House, Marina, Lagos.
The former governor, who said he was elated by his return after a three-month absence from the country, thanked all the political leaders and groups represented at the welcome back ceremony. He also thanked God for sparing his life till the moment and seeing him through the medical trip.
He said the prayer event was an emotional one for him, saying he was overwhelmed by the good wishes from Nigerians while he was away.
He prayed God bless them all and grant them their heart desires.
Earlier, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwó-Olú had thanked God on behalf of Lagos residents for the successful return of the former governor to Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu said, “The citizens are happy that our leader and father is back peacefully and soundly.”
Meanwhile, Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, said they were ready to work to ensure Tinubu’s mandate in 2023.

Hamzat said that the APC national leader’s full recovery is a sign of strength and favour from God.
Gbajabiamila described Tinubu as “an eagle”, who is focused and always ahead of the game.
The Speaker wondered why a “simple knee surgery” became a national issue, adding that the solidarity shown towards Tinubu across ethnic divides indicated the APC national leader is an enigma.
He said that visits to Tinubu in London by different political leaders and groups across party lines said a lot about him and what the former Lagos governor stands for.
Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, called Tinubu a teacher and benefactor, saying his return has put malicious rumour against him to rest.
Also, Chairman of Conference 57, who spoke on behalf of the council chairmen, said members of the conference were ready to join Tinubu in his next political move.
Others who spoke glowingly about the former governor include the lawmaker representing Lagos West in the Senate, Olamilekan Adeola and the GAC chairman, Tajudeen Olusi.
Prayers were offered for Tinubu by Muslim and Christian clerics, while party leaders at the event took turns to welcome him back to the fold.
