In a bid to reduce the high rate of unemployment in Lokoja Local Government,Kogi Union of Tailors (KUT) old market Zone Lokoja, has empowered 20 Youths through it apprenticeship programme.
Comrade Danjuma Sulaiman,state Chairman of the union said this at the induction ceremony of the beneficiaries in Lokoja on Wednesday.
He said the high rate of unemployment in Lokoja informed the KUT’s decision to initiate the programme to address the menace in a very practical way by equipping the youths which consist of males and females, professional skills in tailoring and knitting free for one year.
According to him “addressing unemployment shouldn’t be left for government alone at this time, that’s why the union decided to begins the programme from old market Zone,while other zone would follow later” he said
