The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Board has shortlisted 6,500 applicants out of the 1,474,149 persons that applied for the 2019 recruitment exercise.

About 670,000 were invited, 200,000 responded while 53,116 wrote the Computer-Based Test.

Announcing this at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, the NSCDC Commandant-General, Dr Ahmed Audi, said only 5,000 qualified candidates would be employed after the final screening billed to hold between August 2 and 25.

The CG directed applicants to check the application portal from July 20 for their names, screening locations, and guidelines.

He said only applicants who have their invitation slips would be allowed to participate in the screening exercise which was earlier put on hold due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
