My name is Amina from cross river state, Nigeria.
I was born and raised in a Catholic family but never really liked the practice, i had always wanted to have a connection with God and that was what Islam gave me. all my life I had heard bad things about Islam until I was posted to Kano state, Nigeria for my national service(NYSC) in 2015. During that period I got to meet Muslims and they happened to be very nice to me, their diligence to Sallat made me curious and started studying Islam.
Allahmdulillah in 2016 I accepted Islam, I was 23yrs at the time, I was so excited, my first Sallat felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I went home and told my parents about my new faith but they were not happy which led them to disowning me and throwing me out of the house, I was left alone from April 2016-december 2016 so in December when I had thought that their minds would be calm I tried to make contact but to no avail.. rather they made an attempt on my life, beat me up tore my clothes, took away my phone and laptop, my clothes and everything I owned except my prayer mat and Quran, they went as far as arresting me and accusing me of stealing 600 thousand naira of theirs, if not for the Muslims I met who came to my aid I don’t know what would have happened. After I was bailed out of the cell I escaped only with my Quran and prayer mat and that didn’t stop my Islam, I had to begin life all over again and Alhamdulillah for the few good Muslims I met in Kano state who helped me get my life back, for more than six months after the incidence I suffered anxiety disorder and depression
However, I am not sad because Allah had used me to bring to the fold of Islam 3 persons, one sister mufida formerly known as Matilda from Delta State, brother luqman formerly known as Luke from cross river state, brother Abdulmajid formerly known as Joshua from Abia state, he too has been disowned by his dad, Allahmdulillah mufida and luqman are practicing their Deen with ease.
I and brother Abdulmajid got married last year.
Though I and my family still are not in good terms but I pray that Allah softens their heart forgive their sins and Grant them Hidaya.
I also pray for other reverts may Allah (SWT) ease their affairs and bring more people to Islam as well make us die as Muslims Aameen.
