Former Emir Muhammadu Sanusi appointed Khalifa of Tijjaniyya in Nigeria

The deposed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi ll has been appointed as new Khalifa of Tijjaniyya sect in Nigeria.

Kano Focus reports that Mr Sanusi was appointed on Saturday at annual Maulud of Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass held at Sokoto state.

The Khalifa of Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass appointed Mr Sanusi in the presence of prominent Tijjaniyya clerics including Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

Mr Sanusi succeeded late Isyaka Rabi’u who was appointed after the death of first Khalifa of Tijjaniyya in Nigeria Emir Muhammad Sanusi l.

The appointment of late Isyaka Rabi’u has splitted Tijjaniyya sects where some clerics loyal to Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi protested against the appointment.
