Again, Danko Development Forum, Lokoja, a renowned socio-cultural forum, whose fame is manifested from its profound contributions to science education and primary health care, is preparing to handover a yet another painstaking project to GGSS Sarkin Noma. Sarkin Noma is a suburb in Lokoja, along Lokoja – Abuja road that is visibly distant from basic and social amenities.
Last year, when the forum organized its tenth (10) year anniversary to celebrate a decade of intervention in both science education and primary health care, there were plethora of eulogies, wishes and prayers for the forum’s immense interventions to the development of Lokoja. Interventions, for example, in science education include renovation and equipment of science laboratories in Local Government Secondary School, Kabawa, and Al-Ansar Secondary School Newlayout, as well as provision of science laboratory items to Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Markaz, Lokoja and Bishop Delisle College, Lokoja.
In the area of primary health care, the forum has succeeded in renovating and equipping of health care centers in Unguwar Yashi and Unguwar Kura all in Lokoja. These giant strides, no doubt, are essential in the development of the community and Lokoja at large. Stakeholders at the event unanimously acknowledged the members of the forum for their courage and commitment to achieve these strides in the span of ten years.
However, few concerns were raised, and girl-child education was among the major concerns, thus the continuous decline of girl-child education is on the increase in Lokoja, particularly in the field of science education.
To address this in its own way, DDF identified GGSS Sarkin Noma and embarked on renovating and equipping of science laboratories in the school, the project is completed.
Commissioning
On this note, on Sunday, 27 of December 2020, endeavor to join the epoch event, where the forum will commission the project at GGSS Sarkin Noma, by 9:30am. You’re all cordially invited.
