First and foremost, I would like to give gratitude to Almighty
Allah for His infinite mercy on us and for sparing our lives and
making it possible to witness this epoch-making ceremony.
In the same vein, I wish to use this occasion to appreclate
Our dynamic, workaholic, pragmatic and the youngest Governor in Nigeria, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello (GYB NA ALLAH)
for creating the enabling environment that paved the way for the Conduct of a hitch free council elections that ensured Our victoy.
DistinguIshed Ladies and Gentiemen, this occasion is
remarkable because for the first time in almost a decade a
grassroot based democratic system will be entrenched at the third tier of government. Indeed, I see today as a happy day because it is a day that we have been waiting for, and it has finally come.
My Honourable Councillors, today is your day also, as you are aware, this is the day you are all looking forward to and Allah by His special grace has granted you your heart desires.
What is left for your therefore is to work hard to justity the mandate the people gave to you.
As representatives of the people, your primary assignment is to promulgate bye-laws for the effective and efficient running of the council administration for the overall good of he people of Lokoja Local Government Area.
You Should also bear in mind that with your new responsibility, you will be accountable to God Almighty and the people you represent.
Honourable Councillors, as from now, you have assumed the legislative arm of Lokoja Local Government Oouncil. However, tn
my capacity as the Executive Chairman of the Local Government and by implication, the head of the executive arm of the council, 1 make bold to assure you of my readiness to have a cordial working relationship with you.
Furthermore, I would like to use this medium to appeal to you that as you convene to elect principal officers among
yourselves, you should eschew bitterness, exhibit a high sense of maturity and decorum and’ follow democratic processes.
It is no gain saying the fact that the Challenges before us are
enormous, but with God on our side we shall succeed.
Finaly, I congratulate you on your election and inauguration
and wish you a successTul tenure of office.
