You may wish to recall that Lokoja forum of Patriots in association with Lokoja Local Government Traditional Council, Rajans-GlobalVentures Ltd and relevant Stakeholders organized what has now become Famous Lokoja Boat Regatta, held annually at the Lokoja water front, Kpata Market between September and October every year.
You may further wish to recall that this festival has not only brought to light the enormous cultural potential of our diverse people but has brought about unity between our people and our settlers from every divide for which the 4 edition is to be held this year( 2020)
Following the outbreak of COVID-19, the World Health Organization( WHO), Federal and State Governmen has issued directives and protocols to be followed to stem the tides of its wide spread part of which is social distancing and other hygienic instructions.
The Federal Government has also banned all sporting activities till further notice, a ban that is still in place till now.This festival falls under sporting activities.
We also noticed that going ahead to stage this year edition will not only put the health of our people and other guests at risk but will amount to a front against the law and constituted authority.
Sequel to the above and several other reasons, we wish to inform you as a critical partner on Lokoja Boat Regatta annual event , that the year 2020 festival has been cancelled.
This followed our wide consultation and approval of His Royal Majesty, the Maigari of Lokoja who is the chairman Lokoja Local Government Traditional council.
With this development, we have commence the early preparation for year 2021 Edition and we will keep you updated as thing unfold.
We sincerely regret all inconvenience this decision may have caused you and your organization.
We also wish to sincerely thank you for the cooperation and
support we have enjoyed from you all this while and hope this
postponement will not diminish your zeal for the festival.
