LINPB Honours Ohimege-Igu Of Koton-Karfi For Innovative Leadership, Outstanding Achievements

*** Conferred With Award Of Patronship

Fresh accolade has come the way of His Royal Majesty, the Ohimege Igu of Koton- Karfe, Alhaji Abdulrazaq-Isa Koto, following the award of the most innovative traditional ruler in Kogi State bestowed on him by the Lokoja Indigenous Newspaper Publishers and Bloggers, (LINPB), of the Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The LINPB also conferred on the Royal Majesty, the award of Patron of the group.

The award was presented to the the Ohimege by the NUJ Kogi State Council Chairman, Comrade Momoh-Jimoh Adeiza, at his palace in Koton-Karfe on Tuesday.

Adeiza who was represented by the NUJ Secretary, Alhaji Ademu Seidu, noted that the honour was on the back of the monarch’s sterling performance and the sustenance of peace in Koton-Karfi Kingdomthe Kingdom.

He said  journalists in Kogi State will continue to support the royal father and also pledged to support the him in actualising his vision of transforming the Kingdom and improving the living standards of the people.

“The Kogi NUJ is very happy with your developmental strides in the state and we will do our best to support you and ensure we contribute our quota to the development of the Kingdom,” he said.

Receiving the award, Alhaji Isa-Koto commended the journalists for their fair and objective reportage which has put government  officials and traditional rulers on their toe.
“This has led to the developmental strides recorded in the Kingdom,” he said.

He noted that the award was a call to continue to prioritise the welfare of Igu Kingdom, reassuring that his administration will continue to pursue reforms and programmes to improve the livelihoods of the majority of the people.

“I thank you for this award; this is one of the most objective awards I have received, as you gave me the award following your independent assessment of my administration without receiving any money from me,” Isa-Koto said.

“This was as a result of my diligence, commitment and dedication; it shows that my work has been recognised.

“I did not give you any money for this award nor did I purchase this award. The award is freely given by you (LINPB) following your unbiased assessment of my administration over the years. I will forever treasure this award,” he added.

He commended the group adding that some festivals and other activities from his domain are undercover by journalists and appealed to them to put their searchlights on Igu kingdom.

“I like investigate journalism,I want to you to partner with us in all our activities, henceforth we’ll invite you anytime the need arises,youre free to conduct independent investigation in the interest of peace and development,” Ohimegve said

In his vote of thanks, the President Koton-Karfe Decendant Association, (KIDA), Hon. Abdulkareem Shuibu, appreciated the LINPB for the honour and confessed that it came to him as a pleasant surprise.

“We are not surprise that a highly regarded LINPB is applauding our royal father. His Raoyal Majesty’s track records in the last few years and uncommon display of exemplary leadership qualities which reflect in “The New Face of Igu Kingdom” and apparent display of love and affection to the people of the Kingdom have endeared him to the young and the old. No doubt, Agabahidu is leaving an enduring legacy!

He further thanked the team and pledged the Kingdom’s partnership with the NUJ.

The events has the blessing of all the traditional and title holders from the area.
