URGENT FOR MURIC’S SURVIVAL

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) cannot operate without an office. Neither can we run the activities without workers. The workers must be paid of course otherwise operation will not be smooth.

However, all efforts to ensure that our workers are paid regularly have proved abortive. We called for pledgers but got very few. For example, we have only nine (9) active pledgers as at this June 2020 and the total amount paid by them was N32,000 whereas our monthly salary alone is N90,000.

The nine pledgers have been regular every month. They are :

  1. Oni-Oshodi Monsurat….. N5, 000
  2. Anonymous TV Sister … N1, 000
  3. Umar Isa Tanko………….. N5, 000
  4. Aminat Raji Salami…….. N5, 000
  5. Akerele Oladeinde Taiwo N1,000
  6. Unilorin Anonymous …….N3, 000
  7. Suwebat Akarakiri……….. N2,000
  8. Ibrahim Abdul Hafiz……. N5, 000
  9. Dala Maina Ali…………….. N5, 000 TOTAL.................. N32, 000

We must know what it means if we get N32, 000 per month but must pay a salary of N90, 000. That is apart from other expenses (NEPA bill, generator, etc).

Why are there just nine pledgers? Does it mean we Muslims are not ready to contribute to things that can bring progress? We do not think so. We believe Muslims are ready to contribute but the message is not getting to those who will contribute.

Afterall Muslims contributed to buy a house for MURIC. They also contributed to buy a bus for us. Perhaps they do not realise the essence of maintaining a human rights office and having workers there. But the truth is that all those contributions will be wasted if we cannot run MURIC’s office effectively.

We use this opportunity to appeal to you to support our office. We need workers to support the Director of MURIC because he cannot do it alone and we must pay the workers.

We are therefore asking for new pledgers to join those regular nine committed Muslims. MURIC office may be forced to close if we cannot pay salaries. Those interested should please send their names and the amount they intend to send monthly to our telephone number :
