Project manager, BASE-SAN says petition against the company baseless, misguided, mischievous

The management of BASE-SAN Limited, a management consulting company in Ajaokuta has dismissed the petition written by a group, United Ajaokuta LGA Communities, to OilServe Limited handling the Ajaokuta- Kaduna- Kano, (AKK), pipe line, again it’s company, saying it’s baseless, misleading and mischievous.

Speaking in Ajaokuta on Wednesday, the project manager of BASE-SAN Limited, Moshood A. Lamidi, noted that out sourcing of labour is a global practice and called on the authors of the said petition to desist from giving false information to the public.

Recalled that a group, United Ajaokuta LGA Communities in an undated letter of complaint written to the MD/CEO oilserv limited, had kicked against the use of labour contractor for salary payment for the AKK project

They specifically said that “This decision is arising from past experiences with labour contractor (Basesan Nigeria Limited) in some of the companies around Ajaoukta

“We have it on good authority that your project management team in Kogi state are already considering Basesan Nigeria Limited for Labour

But BASE-SAN Limited project manager while dismissing this claim said there are guidelines for out sourcing of labour from registered company who meets those criterials.

While noting that those individuals who are signatories to the said petition are not representing anyone but their individual interest, Moshood said they are not even aware that those staff have already been engaged and are happy with their welfare package and conditions of engagement.

“For them to have described the workers as ‘would be staff’ shows clearly their ignorance as to the true position in the company and it’s operations as at today

“How could they have addressed people who are already engaged and are already working, happy and contented as ‘would be workers’. It is laughable and ridiculous.

He wondered how the Petitioners could have said that there were complaints about the operations of BASE-SAN Limited in the past, when it worked with Siemens, builders of Geregu power plant one and two, saying that on the contrary, the company, (BASE-SAN), got several letters of commendation from Siemens.

According to him BASE-SAN still provides services to Geregu power plant one and two particularly in the area of security till date, because of their firm believe in the capacity of the company to deliver and maintain global best practices.

He regretted that majority of the persons who signed the petition are selfish and are only interested in their personal gains instead of the public interest which they falsely claimed to represent.

He particularly said that two of the signatories, Salihu Isah Indakwo and Isah Lamidi, have always contested with BASE-SAN in projects around Ajaokuta, saying because the later, (BASE-SAN), have always emerged victorious they have now resulted to petition writing.

The company fingered the two sons of the traditional ruler in the area, Halilu Musa and Mumuni Musa as perpetual contenders to the position of the Community Liason Officer, (CLO), to any company in the area and saw BASE-SAN Limited as an obstacle to their course, hence the petition.

He lamented that another signatory in the said petition, one Muhammed Aka’aba Alonge, was a CLO in 2007 to Siemens and haven seen it as a profitable venture has always paraded the two sons of the chief as his candidates for the position.

However, a visit to the company on Wednesday showed that both Oil Serve and the workers are happy with the company, BASE-SAN Limited as the consultant to the firm.

The workers are jubilant when our reporter visited the site, saying that they were happy with their condition of engagement and have not asked anyone to protest or write any petition on their behalf.

One of them told our reporter in confidence that, the so called Petitioners were acting on behalf of themselves and not in the interest of the workers.

“We are happy with BASE-SAN. We are comfortable with the condition of service and our welfare package, that is why you can see us in our kits. We are from different parts of the central senatorial district. We never asked anyone to protest or write petition on our behalf. He said
