Jimoh-Fancy Bags LINPB Award Of Excellence

—Charged journalists in the state to be objective in their reportage.

The Lokoja Indigenous Newspaper Publishers and Bloggers, (LINPB), of the Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has honoured Chief Jimoh Fancy Tiamiyu, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his contributions to the society and youth related matters.

The NUJ Vice Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Sulaiman, who is also member of the LINPB presented the plaque of the award to Tiamiyu at his office in Lokoja, the state capital on Monday.

In his brief remarks, Sulaiman said the group carefully selected the recipient and that the honour was based on merit and he urged Chief Jimoh Fancy Tiamiyu to see the award as a challenge to spur him to do more.

While responding, Tiamiyu expressed gratitude to LINPB for considering him worthy of the honour and promised to continue to serve the humanity with total commitment and dedication.

He said: “I like to thank the LINPB for this honour as I pray to God to give me more wisdom and strength to do more and justify this award. I thank the LINPB for honouring me with this award and I’m grateful.”

Tiamiyu who is also a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi State commended members of the LINPB and the entire leadership of Kogi State Council of NUJ, for always standing on the side of truth and remaining active partners in the process of giving the people a required pattern of leadership for Nigeria’s unity and sustainable development.

“Members of the Fourth Estate of the realm are well organized professional body and have stood firm in the gap for the populace when the need arises.” Tiamiyu stated.

He however charged journalists in the state to be objective in their reportage as against what is usually published in the Social Media space by some paid agents who lack basic journalism ethics.
