Geemony Global Kleener workers protest over non-payment of over one year salaries


Workers of Geemony Global Kleener,a waste management company,on Wednesday staged a peaceful Protest in Lokoja to demand the payment of their over one year outstanding salaries from Kogi state Government.

The workers who walked through Aliyu Attah Road to Government House Lokoja carried placard with various inscriptions.

Some of the placards read, “Pay us our over 12 months salaries ”, “We have families to cater for” among others.

One of the workers, Mrs Ajoke Jimoh , told our reporter that they were owed over one year salaries despite earning a meagre salary.

Jimoh noted that they had to embark on the protest when they runout of patience while many of them were dying silently from hunger and diseases.

She urged the state government to pity their conditions and ensure prompt payment of their salaries, which, she said, was not enough in the first instance.

Another worker, Madam aminatu Siayaka, regretted that they had worked for more than 15 months without salary,and appealed to Kogi state government to settle Geemony Global Kleener Company.

According to her; ” Geemony helped us by given us employment,the state government which engaged them failed to pay them,we are staging this protest to draw the attention of Kogi government to settle Geemony so that they could pay us our over 15 months salaries” she said.

Efforts made by this reporter to hear from the management of the company proved abortive, as called put through the cellphone of Geemony Global Kleener company Chief Executive was not responded
