Fed.High Court Judgement: Kogi state Govt appeals state of execution.

The Kogi State Government has applied for a state of execution on the Federal High Court Judgement that last week granted the Attah Igala overlord over Ajaokuta, Lokoja and Kogi LGAs.

Recalled that Justice Okoro D.U of the Federal High Court Lokoja had in a Judgement on a matter brought before the court by the Attah Igala vs the Federal Government declared Ajaokuta, Lokoja, Kogi LGAs as part of the territory of Igala Kingdom and under the Jurisdiction of the Attah Igala.

Similarly, the court awarded a cost of N10 billion Naira as compensation to be paid to Igala Kingdom for Illegally operating on her soil without royalties for years after ceeding the territory to the queen of England and Ajayi Crowther in 1841.

The judgement which has generated controversy amongst the affected areas and the state in general is to be arrested through a notice by the government seeking for a stay of execution.

The state government aside the stay of execution has also indicated it interest to challenge the judgement, consequently has filed an appeal.

The notice seeking to stay execution filed by the Attorney General of the state was disclosed by a top government source who plead for anonimity in a chat with the said the application would be filed on.monday 8 June 2020 at the court of Appeal, Abuja Division.
